Man held for Hermanus murder

A man has been arrested in Hillbrow, Joburg, for the murder of a mother of two in Hermanus last month, Western Cape police said on Thursday.

“I can confirm that a man was arrested on Wednesday for the murder of Juliet Haw, who was found stabbed to death in her home last month,” Warrant Officer November Filander said.

“The man is being transported from Joburg and will arrive in Cape Town tonight.”

Haw, 43, was found in the pantry of her home in the suburb of Voelklip by her father. She had been tied up and stabbed in her chest multiple times.

He went to her house after her children's school phoned to say she had not arrived to fetch them. They are 10- and 12-years-old.

A cellphone and a laptop were reported missing from the house.

Die Burger newspaper reported on Thursday that Zolani Menziwa, 36, had appeared in court in Pretoria North in connection with the crime.

He was expected to appear in the Hermanus Magistrate's Court on Monday.

According to the report, he was on parole after being sentenced for rape in 2001. – Sapa
