'Naked pic' cop not reported

A woman who alleges that a police officer ordered her to strip so he could photograph her has yet to lodge a complaint with the Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD), it said on Wednesday.

ICD spokesman Moses Dlamini said he was not aware of a case being lodged with the ICD. He said the police officer could not be investigated until a complaint had been brought.

Marina Kloppers, 23, said she was being driven home by a friend late on the night of July 21 when the friend went through a red light in Mayville, Pretoria, as she felt is was unsafe to stop.

She said a police van followed them, stopped them and that two policemen made them get into the back of the van. They took the women to a clinic in Laudium to test their blood alcohol levels.

Kloppers alleged that while at the clinic, one of the police officers ordered her to strip so he could photograph marks on her body.

She was charged with defeating the ends of justice. Her friend was charged with drunken driving.

Klopper's friends and her father Willem Kloppers were allegedly denied access to her when she later went into a diabetic coma. She regained consciousness at the Eugene Marais Hospital. – Sapa
