'Stop forwarding Census e-mail' - Edenvale councillor

Census e-mail goes viral. "It is ridiculous how the e-mail has gone viral," - Heather Hart.An e-mail circulating throughout South Africa claims that a census enumerator was seen altering information on forms in Edenglen.

Stats SA failed to provide comment on the e-mail. Ward 18 councillor for Edenvale, Clr Heather Hart said that it is “ridiculous how the e-mail had gone viral”.
“The enumerator has nothing to gain from changing information,” Clr Hart said.
“The enumerator was probably cleaning up the census form and nothing more,” said Clr Hart.
Attached to the e-mail are two photographs of an enumerator “erasing” information as claimed by the writer of the e-mail. The identity of the writer of “Census 2011 is a farce” was not included in any of the numerous e-mails received by looklocal.
“Attached is evidence of a Stats SA employee with eraser in hand, erasing information on people’s forms.  He was sitting at the security hut at Erasmus Road, Edenglen, Edenvale. When I asked him what he was doing and why he was erasing, he said his supervisor told him to do this,” the e-mail reads.
“This is not the first time that we have seen enumerators sitting on the side of the road with an eraser in their hands. We spotted three at the boom gates on the corner of Baker Road and Steyn Avenue, Edenglen, Edenvale, I just did not catch them on camera,” the e-mail reads.
“I urge residents to avoid spreading the e-mail which states that  Census 2011 is a farce any further,” said Clr Hart.
